The People Behind Your Preparation
Former Army Officers who have been through the process, served operationally, and now prepare candidates for selection and commissioning.
The Team
Founder
Dan
Dan founded Future Leader Academy to give candidates the preparation he wished existed when he went through selection.
He served as an Infantry Officer, deployed operationally, and delivered military training before transitioning to officer development. That combination gives him a grounded understanding of what the role actually demands — and what genuine readiness looks like.
Working with candidates every day, he’s developed a clear sense of where preparation breaks down: the common mistakes, the pressure points, and the gaps that only show up under scrutiny.
His approach is straightforward: help motivated candidates arrive better prepared, more confident, and with a clearer understanding of the responsibility they’re stepping into.
Head of Training Delivery
Jordan
Jordan focuses on turning ambition into readiness — helping candidates understand what the Army is actually assessing and how to demonstrate it.
He served as a Regular Infantry Officer, deployed operationally, and held the role of Regimental Adjutant — giving him direct experience of both supporting candidates through recruitment and understanding how suitability decisions are made.
Now a Reservist with significant instructional experience, he brings a practical, honest and well-informed approach to officer development. He knows what works because he’s seen it from both sides of the process.
Coach
Will
Will specialises in helping candidates break down complex problems, structure their thinking, and communicate clearly under pressure.
He served as an Infantry Officer and military instructor, with deep experience in training design, coaching, and leadership development. That background informs how he builds capability in others.
His approach is analytical and challenging — focused on helping candidates understand not just what to do, but how to think and perform like officers. Supportive, but demanding in the right way.
Why Learn From Us
We’ve been through the process, served in the role, and now prepare candidates based on firsthand knowledge of what selection assesses and what commissioning demands.
Operational Credibility
All three instructors are former commissioned Infantry Officers with operational deployments and regimental experience. We understand the responsibility because we’ve carried it.
Instructional Experience
Between us, we’ve designed training, delivered military instruction, and developed leaders at every level. This informs how we build genuine capability in candidates.
Both Sides of Selection
We’ve supported candidates through recruitment, understood how suitability decisions are made, and seen where preparation breaks down. That perspective shapes everything we do.

Common Questions
When is the best time to join the Future Leader Academy?
We work with candidates at every stage of the Army Officer application process.
Some people join right at the start to understand the process and build strong habits early. Others join when they’re preparing for Briefing or Main Board.
If you’re serious about joining the Army and hope to start within the next couple of years, we’d recommend getting started sooner rather than later. The earlier you begin preparing, the more time you have to develop before selection.
How are the online workshops delivered?
Our workshops are delivered live online by experienced coaches.
They’re designed to be interactive and practical, not lectures. You’ll be encouraged to get involved, ask questions, practice key skills and learn from both the coaches and other candidates.
We run two workshops each week, usually on Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 18:30. The same session is delivered twice, so you only need to attend one each week.
How is the fitness programme delivered?
The fitness programme is delivered through an easy-to-use training app.
Every session includes clear instructions, coaching notes, and demonstration videos so you know exactly what to do and why you’re doing it.
The programme is built around the key areas needed for military preparation, including running, strength, conditioning and overall fitness. You can also fit the sessions around your work, university or other commitments.
Do you only work with people applying to the Army?
No. While most of our candidates are preparing for Army Officer Selection, we also support people applying to the RAF, Royal Navy, Royal Marines, Army Reserve, Professionally Qualified Officers, and other military leadership pathways.
Although every selection process is slightly different, they all assess similar qualities such as leadership, communication, confidence, teamwork and decision-making.
How much time do I need to commit each week?
This depends on your current level and how close you are to selection.
As a guide, you’ll complete your fitness training, attend one live workshop each week and spend some additional time preparing through reading, current affairs and personal development.
The candidates who get the most from the programme are usually the ones who make preparation part of their weekly routine.
Will this guarantee I pass AOSB?
No, anyone who guarantees a pass is being unrealistic.
Army Officer Selection is competitive, and the final decision is made by the assessors on the day. What we can do is help you understand what’s expected, improve the areas you can control and arrive at selection feeling confident, prepared and ready to perform at your best.
